Kevin, Colleen, Sid, Cosimo and Lorenzo now have a place where our friends and family can see what we've been doing and how the Manor renovation is coming--but you'll have to be patient. Setting up this website is more time consuming than we thought it would be...
Anyway, people want to know how Moon Thief Manor got its name. We live out in the country where you get a spectacular view of the night sky, and when we come home at night we usually pause to look up and pick out our favorite constellations. The moon rises between two pine trees and on full moon nights it is sometimes so bright outside that you can read a paper by it. One night when we came home, the moon was not visible and Kevin asked, "What happened to the moon?" I was petting Sid, who had come up to greet us and I idly remarked, "Maybe the moon thief took it." Kevin really liked that, and we started calling the place Moon Thief Manor after that. We later had a sign made by a guy who does this sort of thing when we were visiting Bird In Hand, Pennsylvania, last fall when we took a trip through Amish Country.
We really love it here. We have a lot of fun together and enjoy traveling, and we take LOTS of pictures.
Enjoy!
Our Story
Kevin and I were high school sweethearts...just kidding. We met last year at Snooker's, our local poolhall. I was looking for something fun to do and he was playing in a pool league. I was intrigued when he told me that he was a member of our local art musuem and he liked the way I looked when I shoot pool (no kidding--I just asked him). He had a cat and no dogs, I had a cat and no dogs, and we both like art, architecture, travel, and home improvement projects. A match made in heaven.
Kevin is an environmental engineer for the Sate of North Carolina. He grew up in Utica, NY with his Mom (Joan), Dad (Gilbert), and Sis (Deborah). He went to college at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, but left early to work in radio and later became a part owner of RGR Broadcasting (WIGS and WTPL radio stations) in upstate New York, during which time he lived on his boat, Into The Mystic, on the St. Lawrence river. He later went back to college and got his degree in Civil Engineering at Syracuse University, after which he moved to North Carolina and went to work at his present job. Throughout his life he has renovated several older homes and his current project is fixing and or updating everything on the Manor.
Colleen is a feline veterinarian for Cozy Cat Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh. She grew up with her family (Ron, Paulette, and brother Marty) in and around Tempe, Arizona, where her Mom and Dad now live.
Sid is a 8 year old feline barbarian, who does not know how to keep his claws out of the couch and likes to lie on the steps so you trip on him in the dark.
Cosimo di Medici is 6 months old and is going to get declawed if he doesn't learn to keep his claws out of the couch. He has very short legs so far but we are hoping they grow.
Lorenzo il Magnifico is our fish and the only well-behaved pet on the place. We love you, Lorenzo, even though we forget to feed you some mornings.
